This site is dedicated to the memory of Armi Mestari Mårtensson.

Armi Mestari Mårtensson was born in Finland on May 05, 1940. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family. Armi very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from pulmonary cardiac arrest in the early morning hours of June 3, 2012 in Chapala, Mexico. She was born in 1940 in Finland. Due to the dangers of World War II, she and her siblings were for their own safety split up and sent away to Sweden, where she spent her first years in an orphanage. From the orphanage they were taken to foster families in different parts of Sweden. She was unfortunately never able to return to her Finnish birth family, but did manage to visit them on several occasions after she was grown. She spent the majority of her life in Sweden, where she married and had a family. After her husband’s death in 1997, she moved to the US to be with her daughters and grandson. Armi was a very caring, unselfish person who always put others first. She just wanted the best for everybody she came in contact with, and would without hesitation help out wherever she was needed. She was very concerned about animal welfare, and passionately interested in politics. She was always ready for a debate about fairness and equality for all. In her view, there are no race-, gender- or other issues – only people issues, and everybody is created equal. We thank you and salute you for giving us such a sane and wonderfully unselfish outlook on everything! She was getting ready to leave her temporary residence in Chapala in August, to once again be with her family. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Armi is survived by and deeply missed by family and friends in the US, Sweden, Mexico and Finland. A private memorial service will be held. Rather than sending flowers, kindly make a donation to any orphanage or animal rescue group.
